About Festival

“Rzeszow Carpathia Festival” is a meeting place for young singers and bands from around the world. First edition of festival was held in 2005.

The aim of the festival is to promote talented young artists and the presentation of diverse musical culture of Europe and the world.

The originator of the Festival is Anna Czenczek – Director of Rzeszow Carpathia Festival and Director of Vocal Art Centre in Rzeszow. For the first time, under the name Nationwide Polish Song Festival Rzeszów 2005, was held from 1st to 3th of May 2005 and the participants could compete in three categories: legionnaire song, popular song and authors song. From the third edition , the festival has the status of an international and entertained artists from countries such as Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Israel, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Italy and Poland.
From fourth edition the requirement to take part in qualifying is present authors song.

The artists who take part in Festival – the music bands and soloists, duets, trios, played with the festival orchestra which conduct Jarosław Babula (editions: 2005, 2015, 2016), Piotr Walicki (edition: 2006), Zbigniew Jakubek (edition: 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010) and Andrzej Paśkiewicz (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), perform original songs from the genre of popular music (pop music), which assesses the festival jury.

Up to now, judging panel chaired by Agnieszka Fatyga, Ewa Farna, Tomasz Szczepanik, Zygmunt Kukla, Natalia Kukulska, Attila Weinberger from Romania, Dorota Szpetkowska, and take part in work among others Zbigniew Wodecki, Elżbieta Zapendowska, Lora Szafran, Michał Zabłocki, Marek Kościkiewicz, prof. Jadwiga Gałęska – Tritt.

The main prize in the competition is the promote the winner in the form of , subsidy of album release or the organization of the tour - 15,000 zł, an invitation to concert in the next edition of the Festival and a commemorative statuette. Grand Prix of Carpathia Festival in 2005-2015 won in turns: Bartosz Jaśkowski, Tomasz Szczepanik with „Pectus” band , Peter Cmorik from Slovakia, Mateusz Krautwurst with „The Positive” band, Adam Ďurica Band from Slovakia, trio „3nity Brothers” from France, Ralph Kamiński, Anna Grzelak, the band Call me Steve from Slovakia, Safi Rakover from France and Jakub Prachowski.

Among the winners of the festival are also Sara Chmiel (vocalist of the Łzy band ), Mocha Trio (First award at the 46th Anna Jantar National Polish Song Festival "Debuts" Opole 2009), Peter Cmorik (winner of the "Golden Nightingale" in Slovakia) Marek Ztracený (winner of the Czech Nightingale), the Pectus band, Kasia Popowska, Sarsa, Kasia Moś.

Up to now in the competition were attended by participants from 27 countries, i.e. Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Israel, Canada, Lithuania, Latvia, Macedonia, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Russia, Romania, Serbia Slovakia, United States, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Vietnam, Italy.

Cultural diversity of the Festival participants makes that during the hearings is presented the innovative and diverse music.

Tradition of Festival are opening events , the first nights of the vocal and dance performances from Vocal Art Centre directed by Anna Czenczek, with festival orchestra : edition 2005: Źli ludzie, 2006: Nie ma jak pompa, 2007: Moda i miłość, 2008: LO.BO.GA Chłopaki, 2009: Let’s Twist Again, 2010: O miłości i nie tylko…, 2011: Najwięcej witaminy mają polskie dziewczyny, 2012: Kaziu, zakochaj się, 2013: Prawy do lewego, 2014: Siebie dam po ślubie, 2015: Volare Canatre.

Among the events that accompanied by the festival are worth mentioning: Podkarpacie w UE”, during celebrated the first anniversary of Polish accession to the European Union; Days of the Visegrad Culture" cycle of the theater groups performances from Rzeszów , dance and instrumental and invited artists from the Visegrad Group countries; International Vocal Workshops Carpathia Festival Vocal Workshops completed recording a promotional album entitled . "LO.BO.GA Chłopaki" with the folk songs of the Visegrad Group in arrangements ethno, pop, rock; The conference was called. "II Days of Culture of the Visegrad - shared visions of Rzeszow cooperation with V4 countries for Europe"; photo exhibition entitled. ,, Czeskie Naj "in the Photo Gallery of the City of Rzeszow; photo exhibition entitled. ,, Przekaz z ludzką twarzą “(The message with a human face "), documenting the history of the dissident movement, among others, KSS-KOR, Kart 77; meetings with the participants and stars of the Festival at the EMPiK Salon and special art programs for the whole family performed by ,, Kvelb Theater "from the Czech Republic.

Last year, at the XII International Song Festival "Rzeszów Carpathia Festival" 2016 received the record number of entries - up to 228, from the several Europe country and the world.

To the final which took place on 24-28 May 2016 get through the representatives from countries such as Belarus, Czech Republic, Canada, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Italy - 10 bands and 11 singers appearing with the festival orchestra under the direction of Jarek Babuli.

Singers were evaluated by the jury chaired by Dorota Szpetkowska composed Onutė Žukienė - Director of the International Talent Festival "Kaunas Talent" in Lithuania, Barbara Tritt, Marek Kościkiewicz, Lech Nowicki, Roman Owsiak and Zbigniew Jakubek. Grand Prix received the Anna Cyzon with a band from Canada.

Apart from that the festival was plentiful in many other musical events.

On the first day many kindergartens from Rzeszów presented in the program entitled "Kindergarten for the City".

Children’s Artistic Group from the Vocal Art Centre in Rzeszów performed with a copyright program entitled . "Hity z Satelity” on the Children's Day.

There was performed also a premiere of vocal-dance performance entitled "Dancing Queen" directed by Anna Czenczek and performed by soloists and artistic groups from Vocal Art Centre in Rzeszów.

The vocalists accompanied the Festival Orchestra under the direction of Jarek Babula.

The star of the last year's festival was the UNIVERSE band, which performed on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of his artistic work.
